****, go back to my post #1958, that is the one I stand with (again). I made a mistake when reading Silvermex post #1974, When I saw it say "got email for 38391, I didn't read, closely enough, the highlighted post he was responding to. Mistakenly thought he was referring to a Mint email that says "order to ship". Man, I apologize as I must have raised a whole bunch of hope here. Now I retreat to my statement "cut off was somewhere in the 3837 series or the early 3838 group". I guess I was hoping for you guys too much and didn't use enough caution when reading the silvermex post. SORRY

As far as I know, no orders were filled on #3839...you misunderstood the blogs. They just received an email stating that their sets were on backorder.

Order# 383813XX, (quantity one) confirmation email received 10-27-11 1:20 (5:20 EST). I received a "backorder" email today. Mint has no further information at this time. To all the true collectors, I wish you all the very best that your orders get filled. Thank you.

That's the highest number I've seen posted with confirmed shipping so far.

Yea, you are right. I feel bad that i raised false hopes. Just wish that the collectors get theirs. Hope, also, that you get yours. It must have been tough having your grandkids when the mint made it impossible to order a set without spending hours and total concentration to get an order through. I had my web site set up and the phone number dialed, all I had to do was hit redial and also try to get the web page to move beyond "quantity". I spent over 3 hours (got my order through at 3:09 PST) to finally get it placed, never did get through on phone. It had to be one of the most frustrating 3 hours of my life. I really don't know how those earlier orders ever got placed. Someone must of had a bank of numbers all dialing, this was not set up for a simple collector with one phone and one PC. It's why I get upset to see HSN with their loads of sets and blog members bragging about 10 or more. I don't know what the intention was of the mint, possibly to make money. They really didn't seem to care about collectors, even those of us that are mint members with subscriptions. They must know that some buyers got many more sets than the 5 order maximum. It's a shame they don't have a way to cancel shipment to outfits like HSN when they hear about the number of sets they have. Guess HSN can always claim they purchased them from a third party (in a way, I guess they did).

i asked a mint rep how they got so many at hsn she said people had to buy for them(bull) no way they had 200+ get through and get 5 each NO WAY NO WAY!!!!!

No they bought from a third party. I think the third party has a name: employees, you think?

Thanks, Steve, for your kind wishes. They haven't cancelled my order yet, so I can only hope. Having a grandson that wants to play on the computer wasn't a big help that day either...lol! You're right about the bloggers and HSN being able to grab a bunch of sets while little collectors like me can't even get one. I guess they're the lucky ones.

Amazing good fortune. Congratulations! The only upside to this ridiculous fiasco is in the knowledge that some of these sets will find their way into the hands of collectors who will squirrel them away in the safe deposit box for their grandchildren.

I dont want to start a new thread about 25th so ill just add to this one. how do you guys think the 100k sets will be split up within the 1st year? like i think it will be about 50k open the set and 50k leave in box.
Of the 50k open maybe 5k will be split a part when sold on ebay (like selling the rev proof separate from the set) and maybe another 5k split up because of wanting to get the main two graded. then 40k left as is.
then of the boxed 50k i think about 10k will remain in the box and 40k will be graded. 10k of those will be graded by one of the low end graders thru tv. 20k by ngc (since it seems like 2/3 of people post about going with them). and 10k by the pcgs.
so of the main 2 graders if 20% of them are 70s we will have about 4k ngc and 2k pcgs.
    what do you guys think?

From the Nov 28 Coin World issue "Tom Jurkowsky, director of the U. S. Mint's Office of Public Affairs, reconfirmed to Coin World Nov. 11 that the bullion coin in the set is exclusively from San Francisco Mint production. Jurkowsky said Nov. 11 that the certificates of authenticity were likely produced before U. S. Mint officials made a final decision restricting the bullion coin production for the set to the San Francisco facility."

PCGS should have asked Mr. Jurkowsky directly before issuing it's knee jerk response to the statement of an unnamed mint official. Now, they have to stay with what they have done, not marking the bullion coin as a 2011-(S), because to do otherwise would mean admitting that they are fallible and I just don't see them doing that. They will find a way to justify their utterly childish reaction to the words on the COA.

Every bullion coin in every 25th anniversary set was minted in San Francisco and deserves the 2011-(S) designation

I think this group on HOLD with backorder status are the wait list folks that could get filled once mint resolves these first time shipping address confirmations. My understanding that if u hadn't ordered from mint before they sent u a letter which would have taken a few days to get and then they had 10 days to call and confirm their address. This process could be very troublesome for those shipping to their mom's house our all those &$@$) buying for HSN. Taking all that into consideration we should start seeing some movement on these orders any day now.
