I think everyone is about right at $400, but I hope they are cheaper since I am in for all 5 sets, as long as the mint website cooperates on release day. Any guesses on how soon these sell out? I bet they don't last more than a couple of hours (given their mintage limit of 100k and 5 per household).

Goldmember- I really believe that with the price of silver, the Mint would be somewhat hard pressed to sell at $400.00. Not to negate the realistic goal (money), in which the U.S. Mint specializes in, they can sell at whatever price they set. At this time, I believe that the U.S. Mint is trying to compromise with this (set), due to the fact of the suspension of the silver proof, and uncirculated (w). In all reality, pricing is still to be realized, until they re-price the previous, I just mentioned. My shovel is not as big as yours, hopefully I will be able to manage two, God willing. I would only believe that this will be a quick sell-out, should the set not be delayed, or "suspended". There certainly could be a delay. The U.S. Mint always has a way of performing the next step which no one could perceive. Anyways, let me ask a question. I have purchased some silver eagle proofs, as well as the uncirculated (w). Do you think that re-pricing will be lower than what others paid? If so, wshat would this mean in terms of resale value.

I also got a couple of silver eagle proofs and an uncirculated W coin. I don't see them repricing them down more than about $5 so it shouldn't impact resale much (although I am often wrong with my ideas). I thought about sending my uncirculated eagle back for a refund and then rebuying, but after talking with others on here it didn't seem worth the effort.

As for the price, I think it will be $400 because they have been selling the uncirculated eagles for $60 (don't see that changing by much) so $60 x 5 is $300. Then you add in the fancy box and the fact that it is a special release and I am coming up with $375 - $400. Hopefully I am wrong and it will be much cheaper, but I doubt it.

goldmember---- I would not send them back, never can tell what may happen. This (fancy) box seems to be getting a lot of attention. However, I find no exhorbitant cost associated here, but who knows. Do you think it is at all possible, that the U.S. Mint may suspend remaining production, (eagles), then possibly melt the remainder should silver decline? Just a thought. I have presented this prior, but it seems no one will give their opinion. They merely disallow the question, or just pass over it. Again, how does the Mint justify the repricing of the (eagles), with the new set 'supposedly', ready to appear? The Mint is in a position, not a very good one, as to the re-pricing issue. If they do lower the price, it very well could infuriate quite a few people, seeing that they paid more. Irrespective of this, the U.S. Mint still reserves the right to do as they please.

Tater--- You should know as well as anybody, no. The set could very well be delayed, or "even suspended"; believe it or not.

Yeah, but the 5oz ATB are around $287 and have a purdy box too.
    So I'm betting around 299.99 to 349.99

With a brand new mint director on board, I'll guess there will not be a sell out. I think the production figures will be open ended to accommodate everyone. Pricing will very with the market however. If possible, they may even lift the restriction on household quantity toward the end of this year.

I doubt it. They're still delivering The 9/11 medals as well as silver proof sets. Oh, the commemorative silver (Army & MOH) coins are still being offered.

    Maybe no one has one.

I'm sure they'll have something up and running as soon as they get the new prices established through publication in the Federal Register.

Ya ever buy stock Synoptic? How 'bout commodities? If you can't afford to lose, don't play the game......:)

Collector eagles (silver) are back on sale at the US Mint. Collector "W" coins down in price by nearly $10 from when I bought them in September! Oh woe is me......[gnashes his teeth]......oh woeful and dark is the day. Dear me, I fear I shall never recover. My investment in ASE's is doomed.

[wife splashes a glass of water in his face] "Feeling better dear"?

[somewhat recovered now] "Why yes. Thank you my dear. I'd nearly forgotten that I merely collect".......:)

I just called the Mint and was told to call back in a couple of weeks, that they would have the pricing and release date then.

  17. Ken: Just take out your 2009 UHR gold coin, remember how much you paid for it and how much it is worth now and you will feel much better. :smile. TC

LOL. Man oh man do I ever remember. $1189. What's they go for today? A tad more to be sure. One of only a few collectibles that I've bought off the mint that didn't tank in the aftermarket. But hey, we're collectors......:)

I for one am surprised at how much a premium the UHR's have right now! After all the mintage is not low -- I think it's close to 130,000 (someone has the exact mintage I'm sure). Compare that to some of the first spouses.

while it may be fact that the UHR mintage is significantly higher than the First Spouse coins, the demand is infinitely higher and therefore the prices will reflect that demand

I think the final mintage was around 115,000. It is such a beautiful coin I knew it would be a winner. I bought 2 and had one graded by NGC as an MS70, kept the other in all the original packaging. I loves them :)

I think on Ebay they have been going for $2600~ in original packaging, MS70 for about $3000, MS70PL for like $4500 and so on~

If you got one from the mint then you did good and probably made up for 2-3 years worth of "bad mint buys' at this point :)
