Price is set at $299. Confirmed http://mintnewsblog.com/2011/10/25th-anniversary-set-priced-at-299-95/
Collecting coins for 30+ years, US coins for the first 20 years, and I just now created a US mint account. My kid better appreciate this.
It sure would be great if the first week were to pass without a sell-out. No need to go the friends and family route for >5, if so. Still, I don't expect these to see even a minute of unconstrained ordering limits.
I only want 1 of my possible 5 sets and I really think the majority (that is, over 50%) of the people who order these will just order 1 set. Maybe 2, at the most. Sure some will order more as gifts and some will order more to sleaze people, I mean sell to people. Anyway, I really believe anyone who really wants a set will be able to order a set, if they place their order the first day. I don't think the 100.000 mintage is going to shut out anyone, if they don't screw around. I mean, that is a lot of sets. Now that we know the price, we can say the 2 key coins are selling for about $75.00 each. 300-60-50-40=150. That's even without factoring in anything for the fancy box. I wonder what they will sell for in the after-market. It will be interesting to see what people will pay for them separately.
I bet the boxes alone will be a hit and people will start using them for other 5 coin collections... or have 5 boxes to store your entire Silver Eagle set
I'm only ordering one, so I'm not further extorted by the secondary market. I'll tell you, Wall St., the government, Wall St., the government.........hard to tell the difference.
