Bought this yesterday at the Market. They say it's the Key Date in the $5 Burnished Gold series but I can't find any mintage figures. Anyone have any info on this ? scmedic
It Bids much higher than any of the other $5 Burnished Eagles Listing it as the "Key Date". Sadly you can't get anywhere close to the Bid Price for these. I picked this one up for $160.
The problem with price guides, is there not up to date on trends, i have been Using the Green Sheet which is the sister publication but for currency for Years and have found this to be true, the bottom line is its only worth what Someone is willing to pay and the market over all.
Here is a good place to see all the mintages for gold eaglrs (burnished are near the end): http://goldeagleguide.com/mintages/ And the 2008-W 1/10 is listed at 12,657
"key date" is relative. The 1/10 uncirculated eagles only lived for three years. 2008 was the last year and lowest mintage of its run. This likely means it was unpopular and killed off. Burnished gold eagles don't sell all that many each year. Proof coins win over far more buyers. That said, $160 is not awful. APMEX has them listed for $299. Two have recently sold on ebay, one for $237, the other for $174...
