2008 american buffalo proof and uncirculated gold coins

If the fractional buffalos are no longer going to be offered forever, does anyone expect that the fractional 2008W's will surpass the 1oz. 2008W in value? My little 1/10 oz is seeking her fame and my fortune. Waddya think Elaine? I value your input.

let's presume your buffalo is a proof 1/10 ounce gold. it's hard for your 1/10 oz to surpass 1 ounce. because the 1 oz buff is also considered low mintage. but when you have 10 pc of 1/10 oz. then you surpass the 1 oz. ex:
one ounce cost $5,000.00. you got 10 pc of 1/10 oz. each 1/10 oz cost you $875.00. 10 pc for $8,750.00. or that's $8,750.00 per ounce. wow. currently the spot gold close at $1,107.90 per ounce.

 

prosperity set should be $3,850.00 retail. apmex is selling $2,775.00. what a bargain?.

So whatever MCM offer is really peanuts ...

 

I too figured that would well be the case with their offer.

 

I'm not so sure these won't be made again. I think they will make more one day and when they do the mintages will be higher.

HHHHMMMMM, 5 year anniversary for Buffalos is 2011, 10 year is 2016.

An 'anniversary set' might be offered in those time frames but maybe not individually for sale and perhaps only available in Proof versions. If they were made available as sets only the mintages might not be so high, but this is just future speculation which is likely futile. The Mint could take any unexpected direction under a new Director and many seem displeased with the current one's performance. At this point in time, I'd guess that there will not be future generations of fractional AGBs in the heard.

 

krispy. how many one ounce or fractional 08w buff proof or unc you have?. have you call MCM to sell some?. does anyone sell some?. for me. i won't. the price should continue to go up. as for buying. the prices for 06w to 08w fractional eagle are still very attractive. they too can continue to go up.

 

I won't be selling to MCM. Holding on to mine for now.

Elaine, where do u see the future of the fract. buffs going? Many argue they shot up SOO fast that hey are desinted to come back down. If you think they will continue to move up, where do u see their max potential? Are they a wise 5 - 10 yr hold? Secondly where do u think the eagles will end up ranking relative to these coins. Do you think they will ever come close to matching the set?

 

i think the 06w to 08w fractional unc eagles (1/2 oz & 1/4 oz only) and 08w fractional unc and proof buffaloes (1/2 oz, 1/4 oz & 1/10 oz)will continue to go up. as for one ounce eagle and buffalo. the mint will continue to sell those year after year.
