1985 D LMC found a clipped planchet.

    It's not really clipped.. It's actually an Incomplete Planchet.. They just call it clipped because it looks clipped but it ain't ;)

    The ragged edge is one marker used to verify that it is a mint error.
    The word Clipped mostly denotes that a piece was taken away. Not so with this type of error. The missing piece of the OP's coin was never there to begin with.
    Incomplete planchet, should be called Incomplete Coin.
    Clipped planchet is a more common, well use nomenclature for coin like this.
