These Struck Through Grease can be fun. Somewhere I have a beautiful unc. 200-D lincoln cent. Pretty rare to have a 1800 yr old copper clad in full red! I wonder if they meant it to be AD
I would suggest looking through a lot of early-mid 80's dimes. It shouldn't take long to identify a pattern...
The hubs of the Roosevelt Dime were worn out by the mid-1980's, so the design is blurry and seems to run into the rim. This was corrected a few years later. They aren't really weakly struck, just struck from poorly made dies. You see the same thing in Lincoln Cents before they made a new hub in 1969, and for Jefferson Nickels in 1971. The 1971 Kennedy Half was struck from dies from a new hub in 1971 too.
I posted this one last night in Errors. Took quite the razzing but enjoyed every comment. Beats the heck out of late night TV! https://www.cointalk.com/threads/after-6-mos-of-study.328295/
