A perfect response one that can be understood between both OP and other members. If this was the kind of response given everyone would have an understanding less diss-agreement and arguments. I certainly believe so. Thank you SuperDave
I equate the atmosphere of this place to visiting my (fictional) backwoods kin in western North Carolina. Plainspoken, somewhat uncouth, uncaring of "social niceties" but the vast majority of them would give you their last dollar without being asked. A very small percentage are genuinely ugly folk who are only here to argue and insult people, but the majority respond just as a gentleman/gentlewoman should when responded to with calm patience. And keep in mind, many of them speak from decades of numismatic experience, and are equally pretty old hands at the Forum thing too. Some of us have dealt with dozens of inexperienced new members presenting 1969-S Lincolns alone, much less all the other rarities which one might think they've found in their limited experience. Add to that the impossibility of communicating body language and tone on the Internet, and you have a formula for patience wearing out early and often. Honestly, not everybody's cut out for the give-and-take of Internet online communities; they're genuinely different social formats than meatspace connections and the same rules don't work.
The term Doubled Die refers to a doubling of some or all parts of the image on the DIE (not the coin). Every coin struck by that die will be exactly the same. Minor differences like MD, or die alignment, and die wear not withstanding. If it is not exactly the same as the coin you are comparing it to, it did not come from the same die. It's very simple to understand. You should know since you have it. Send it off to ANACS, or PCGS and have it authenticated.
Yes, I couldn't agree more. I understand how doubleddie's are made the cause behind it and how they differ completely from the lesser MD all around. What I'm trying to get everyone to understand is that my issue here is PROBABLY "photography" I agree with everyone on identical match. I'm not an expert but I'm not ignorant either I am limited in experience this is also an issue... tHANKS
He already understands.... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/this-is-one-strange-coin.270857/#post-2283362 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1969-s-ddo.268956/ https://www.cointalk.com/threads/i-have-1969-s-ddo-x-2.269392/ You're being played, gentlemen.....
As per referenced to the this I wanna thank you for the suggestion. Though I am familiar with coppercoins.com I've already made comparison prior to all of this. compared mine with coppercoins but I couldnt up with a come to conclusion. I didn't pay much attention on the other 2 because they were insignificant to me at least. Since, you recommended again I thought may be I had missed something that I'll check it out later. In the mean time I started going through my little box of about 100 or less 1969 S's. I came 2 that I thought resembled a lot like the one posted in discussion it has what looked to be some what of the same die markers like is was strucked by the same die during production. liberty, IGWT, 1969 S the letters and numerals were similiar like same handwriting but it wasn't drastic like the one posted but I can see its the same handwrithing the same die. So, later on the day I found time and looked up coppercoins.com and sure enough the 2 1969's I had earlier the day matched up with out a doubt with 1969 s DDO CLASS Three and Five. I must say I was pretty excited how it matched up so well.... Thanks to you I now have 1969 S DDO class 003 and 005 I think thats correct regardless of class it is confirmed. I'll post photo's late to prove this. On the other hand I still haven't confirmed the one posted in speaking.... So, my question is what do the lower class 005 AND 003 1969 S DDO have in common with the class 001 1969 S? what does class 003 and 005 have in similarity with class 001 were they hit with the same die during production? before or after the changing of the hub where as class 1 was affected during this thus the creation of hub doubled? Was the mint using different set of dies during production, did they use only one single 1969 S die to mint during the entire year of 1969? I imagined they had few for back up when one wears out they will replace it. I'm guessing the dies are all exact similar in identity but with very "little differences" in distinguishing one from the other could this be? 1969 S Class 001 Class 003 and Class 005 was of the same production line minted from the same die? If this is correct than there is good "probability" that the device in discussion is genuine. Thank you
Start here, to learn what "Classes" refer to with doubling: http://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html You really need a little more knowledge before coming to conclusions, or even coming to "theories."
Nope. It's 100% or, nothing. Might be a premium to a Md collector. I am one of those. I'll give you. 2.09$ you pay shipping and handling..
I have had this pounded in my head so many times and have come to accept it but i cant help but wonder why? cant a coin on the same die, maybe later in the process (lds etc) produce a damn near match but slightly different?
i was certainly guilty, as are most new comers, of slapping a post up of a coin i found thinking i hit the jackpot. I see it over and over and im sure the vets get tired of answering the same questions or being the bearer of bad news. We newbies will post pictures from angles or ask questions written in such a way to try and skew opinions into our favor (even if subconsciously.) I am conscious of the fact that i am a novice and thankful for the shear patience most of yall vets convey. That being said, there is definitely a difference between asking more questions to get clarity on a subject vs asking questions to argue with people because you don't like their answer. Newcomers please take into account the experience and volume of coins these members have had pass through their hands - no substitute for experience. And veterans thank you for dealing with the same things over and over in a way that doesn't come off as the expert looking down on us underlings - annoyed we even bothered you
No, you are missing devices( raised ) etc. My Brother shows up, quite a lot.He says the same thing. The odds of finding a coin, with its status, has got to be,a Holy Grail, The reason it is a Holy Grail. Is the fact that very few examples have been found. I urge You to look at the 55 DDO, with mds.
SuperDave, you're correct which is why I've not come to a conclusion yet on the device speaking of topic but I've concluded on the other two I stand by what I've said. Now, if you're referring to this than may be you should take your own advice on conclusion instead of advising that I gain more knowledge if you read my last post you should see that I've said I can PROVE that the 2 classes is in my possession thus answering what ever assumptions you may have about me on topic in discuss... coloradobryan, you have 1969 S DDO congratulations. I also have 1969 S DDO I have 2 possibly even 3 wow... I know right! Photo's 123-789 from coppercoins.com Please, use as a reference when comparing to mine that is photo 456-10-11-12 KEEP IN MIND. I AM NOT A PROFFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER MY PHOTO'S MAY NOT BE 100% MATCHED DUE TO THE FACT THAT I'M NOT A PROF. PHOTAGRAPHER WITH A PROF. CAMERA OKIE DOKIE? IF SUCH IS NEEDED TO DECIPHER THAN ONE MAY ASK WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS FORUM? A THREE YEAR OLD GIRL I PROMISE CAN TELL ME THE SAME THING IF SUCH NEEDED. SO Please USE THE EXPERIENCE IF NECESSARY WHEN EXAMINING DEVICE. THANK YOU
I have been in the same spot. I was all ways taught. Constructive criticism, I have learned that there are a lot of experts, Quite a few in each forum, When they speak there mind they are only. Trying to reach you. Let's pass on the knowledge, even if you wouldn't want to here it, given back.
If this is a comparison, I wonder if that "three year old girl" would notice the different mintmark positions....
