All price catalogs, or price guides, whatever you want to call them are worthless.

If you want to know the realistic value of a coin then look up realized auction prices.

The "leading numismatic catalog" is insanely priced.
For example, their price on 1987 proof sets are $29. The Red Book is charging just $5, a great bargain even from the U.S. mint price of $11.

Also, they're saying that 1995 or 1997 proof Kennedy halves are selling for $95-$100 each.
      True story: $40 per coin.

Quite simple, because I discovered that it was not the coins that I really loved, but rather the study of coins that I loved.

hey Doug, if this is personal you dont have to answer this, but why did you let go of collecting coins?

Our rules state that items listed in the advertising sections must be numismatically related. That one is kinda pushing the envelope, but OK, go ahead.

Man you have some "expert textperts" here... I have seen the same condescending attitudes at other sites for collecting...There are always a few. I ran into one right away here..This self appointed 40 year Morgan expert is textbook...Not for me...Sorry..

      Howdy George -

In a nutshell, the 2 posts you made in the advertising section broke the rules. Specifically the rule about members only being permitted to make 1 post every 7 days. You made those 2 posts after only 6 days. Your previous post in that same section was made on Wed. the 16th. That means you could not post again until Wed. the 23rd, but you posted on Tues, the 22nd.

It was a simple mistake on your part. But it an easy mistake to avoid if you just glance at a calendar. A week, 7 days, runs from Wed. to the following Wed.; not from Wed. until Tues.

Earkier I tried to post an ad for a group of coins and matching photos. I obviously did something wrong as the post dissappeared. Can you tell what I did wrong.
      Thanks
