I heard that some 1965 pennies minted at Denver- can be distinguished by someone at the Denver mint who placed an extra dot(double dot) next to UNUM - so 2 on one side and 1 dot on the other - here is a link more on the topic https://www.cointalk.com/threads/what-does-double-dot-mean.309297/
I lightened your D up it looks just like the 1964 D from the Denver mint it does look like you have 2 dots beside Unum this could be a D from Denver I posted two pics for you to compare
I adjusted the picture so you can see the hit and the displaced metal that forms the anomaly. It’s just PMD.
Cents were only minted at Philadelphia in 1965, 1966 and 1967. There are rumors and stories but no conclusive proof otherwise. It's PMD.
There were no mintmarks on any of them, but the actual production for each mint was 1965 P 301,470,000 D 973,364,900 S 220,030,000 1966 P 811,100,000 D 991,431,200 S 383,355,000 1967 P 907,575,000 D 1,327,377,100 S 813,715,000
Thank you. The reason I ask is because those figures do not add up to the Red Book figures and everywhere I look only Philadelphia is cited as minting them.
There is a discrepancy in the totals, a small amount of that is probably from the SMS coins, I don't know what accounts for the rest of it.
Collecting Nut - here is a 3 part article on 1965 coins by David Lange at NGC here is a link to the first part https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/5343/
Put it up for auction and see what happens? I think it looks like a d to me but I'm not a good judge of coins I just like collecting them. I notice a track mark to the left of the d on the rim which looks like it was struck with something but I like it!
