This thread is an Index for a series of posts where I invited members to show coins from their collections that they had purchased in various price brackets. Many thanks to all of them for their contributions! I hope the series will be useful, especially to those newer to collecting ancients, as a loose guide showing what other collectors have purchased in the past few years within a variety of budget ranges.

The links below are for the 10 threads covering coins that cost anywhere from $1 - $600:

    1. Bargain Bin Edition ($20 and below)

Please do feel free to use, reference, or add to any of those threads. I'm aware that there are some ongoing threads by other members for coins costing beyond what's covered above, but I wanted to get this Index for the previous price brackets out first. I'm not sure how high up the price ladder the current threads will go, but when they're done, I'd be more than happy if anyone wants to add links to those threads to this post :).

And to make this post a little interesting, I'll be showing below a sample set of 3 coins from each price bracket that I've selected somewhat randomly from among what members had shown in the respective threads. They're just meant to be a representative taster for the rest of the coins shown in the linked threads. Thanks again to all for sharing!

Thanks for the index @zumbly and the time you put into making the individual price brackets. I enjoyed them all and learned quite a bit about ancient coin values. Hopefully you won't mind if @dougsmit and @IdesOfMarch01 add their links here too that way I can reference this index to find them all.

You're welcome! And yes, I wouldn't at all mind the addition of the links to those threads when they're done... some great examples are being posted in those price brackets!

For the record, all prices in all of these threads are very much a matter of opinion and a matter of where and when a coin was purchased. In most threads there are coins I believe were bargains and coins that I believe were worth much less than the price paid. It is easy to pay more than a 'proper' amount but we do that sometimes because we want the coin and have no better use for the money. The billionaires among us don't care in the same was as those with no reason to be spending money on a hobby rather than paying the utility bills. These threads have been fun but they can not be taken as absolute rules for spending. We all will do what we will do. Some of us will buy one $10,000 aureus while others will buy 100 $100 coins to spend that same $10,000. There is no right or wrong way to waste money on coins. When we compare to what happened to people (including some of our CT friends) due to weather, it makes no difference. I pray no one we knew was in Las Vegas.

Quick question, as I have a tendency to bid in odd cents, and also wonder to you all factor in the shipping and handling costs when you say how much it costs...

Say I get an ebay coin at 47.12, and s/h is not free but costs 6.40... If I show that coin here, do I say I paid 47.00 for it (rounding down) or do I include the s/h and say I paid 54.00 for it? Probably makes no big issue keeping track at home, for myself, but some of those s/h costs add up.
