Lots of below-melt silver showing up on eBay

Still seeing quite a bit of silver coming up at 50x or below this afternoon (current melt 56x). Saw a couple of lots right around 40x, but I don't think I want to buy too much at that level. Yet.

I've checked occasionally on just-completed gold auctions, and they're puzzling. At first glance, it seems like quite a few 1-oz gold listings are selling well below spot - but on closer examination, they're all from sellers with no recent feedback, or no feedback at all. I'm not surprised that there are suspicious-looking dealers; I am surprised that the funky-looking transactions seem to be out numbering the honest-looking ones. Based on my last experience gambling on a high(ish)-value gold auction, I'm not eager to take the YOLO-and-Buyer-Protection-has-my-back approach.

But there's also this: a 2021 1-oz gold Buffalo, NGC MS-70 Early Release slab, just sold for $3705.49 - from APMEX. It looks like all their other gold ounces are listed well above spot. I wonder if somebody at APMEX just fat-fingered that one listing?

I think your guess of the Apmex listing being an error is correct. They could have canceled the transaction after noticing it sold at that price (although it is possible they actually mailed it out).
