I would like to add the bonk to my collection.

Nora the kitty is getting bigger. I think she’s fat and happy. Ginger turned two last month. She’s getting bigger as well.

Yeesh. Multiple typos, missing screenshots, copy-paste errors, bad links… I was not on my game last night!

Hopefully it’s all fixed now. If you ever catch me in a goof, shoot me a PM, please.

I want that P set of coins. A 1942 set that is circulated would be really cool for me to have.

My Father enlisted in the US Army Air Corps that year and unfortunately washed out on a non-service connected disabillity about 6 months later due to an ear problem he had, but he got to spend some time in Santa Ana, California and his days there were remembered one winter in New York (possibly after Dec 1942, as he had for some reason done one semester in the Fall of 1942 at a university in Kansas; so maybe it was the Jan to Mar timeframe of 1943) when he had his car stalled out on an icy road, he was by the car getting carpet from the trunk laid out so he could get the car going, and a big truck (like a gas truck) almost slid into him.... it missed him by very little. That was his impetus to move to California for good. It took a bit of doing because he was working at (I think) Bell Aircraft and the supervisor refused to write him a release (yes, they had a lot of power as to things like that during the war), but my dad, being the stubborn Polish guy he was, just said well, we'll see, and he did get to California soon after (I would have to look at the transcript of an interview I did with him back in the 1970s to refresh my memory on whether he just took off or if he somehow got his release, but for some reason I think he just took off and the release wasn't written until he got to California and applied for and was accepted by Ryan Aircraft and that it was Ryan that got the release signed), and he lived in California for the rest of his life.

So I would like this as a set that he might have had in his pocket that year.

This is a cheerful story because he would never have met and married my mother and thus had me if he had not had those experiences.... ha. I am alive because of his enlistment and a runaway truck on ice.

This pic is from the Santa Ana air base two years after my dad was there, but I would think he had to participate in things like this:
