There is a local Craigslist listing for 14 Maple Leafs and 1 Kookaburro for $21.67 each. Pretty good deal to me. I am not very familiar with these bullion pieces. Is there many fakes floating around or anything I should be aware of? I don't have a pocket scale, but he said he is a coin collector. He sent me some pics of his modern commems he collects while we were chatting. Would you buy them?

Yes, there are fakes known among Maple Leaf bullion coins and it has lead to some design changes in recent years, so know the differences between these official designs and where to look and what to look for in order to spot the fakes. If you go to meet someone in order to buy these coins, take a proper scale with you to weigh them as well as visually inspect them.

Good stuff. Thanks. He said they are all 2014, so hopefully that will make it easier.

While you are completely right, great deals are beds for scammers selling fake coins for a quick profit

He has for sale 10 1oz. silver bars, 14 Maple Leafs, and a Kook. I told him I just want the coins. Don't know how to authenticate silver bars. They are a well known brand, but still...

IF you could get a picture before hand and post them here that would really help since there are a lot of experts here in that area that could help you out.

I would do the same thing, buy the coins and pass on the bars. I've had really good experience with craigslist as far as coins and guitars go. With that said, a guy came to my coin club one night and said that he had bought some fake PCGS slabbed Morgans and lost a ton of money. Still, take a look at the coins and if your gut tells you somethings not right then don't buy them.

I am hoping I can flip these coins for a few dollars profit each. There are 15 total, and I want to keep one Maple and one Kook. If I can get $25 each for 13 of them, that will pay for the 2 I will keep.
