Where does everyone sell their silver??

So I buy quite a bit from a local guy's shop that I frequent. However he only offers spot for ASE's. I've seen many websites offering $1.50 to $2 over spot for ASE's, but I'm always hesitant to sell online (which is odd considering how much I buy online).

Where has everyone tried and what results have you had?

Wow, I'm surprised that they offer you spot. When silver was at 35, I was offering 30 at the shop. I guess the shop you go to is looking at it as more of an investment. We currently have about 20-30 ASE's and I'm trying to convince my boss to pay me in them.

 

Spot for ASE is great from any coin dealer!

 

Most coin shows around here dealers buy for spot and sell for 3 or 4 dollars over.

 

Maybe thru a classified ad for word of mouth, but spot from a dealer sounds like a good venue.

 

Thanks for the comments guys, I was looking for anyone with experience with maybe Apmex (who looks like they are paying about $1.60 over spot) or Goldmart (looks like about $2 over) or any other online sites...

 

Great topic...I've only glanced at the online sites as I'm not ready to sell yet, but don't you have to figure in the shipping and insurance when selling to them? And don't they usually have minimum amounts that they'll buy?

 

Yes and yes. Also, you have to hope it all gets there. If you don't have too many, it may be much simpler to go to your local coin dealer.

I like APMEX, but I've only purchased from them. For sales, I always deal with a dealer locally. I have no experience with Goldmart either way.

 

I've bought from Provident and had a good experience, so I have considered them as a possibility when the time comes to sell. I'm new to the game so I need to start looking around to find out who has the best prices.

 

ASEs are carrying a pretty good premium right now. I noticed this for the first time a few weeks ago. Hurts if you are buying, nice if you are selling.

Other forms of silver are not in demand like this.

I guess I don't understand. You didn't put it on a credit card? I never buy something via mail order unless I know the dealer well.

Btw, you say they state the package is insured. So what is the problem? Turn in a claim on the insurance they took out. Are you stating that they are saying the shipment was NOT insured? Did they state that?

 

Going to court? for 20 ounces of silver? that's only like $650. I understand you being upset, but court fees are going to cost more than that $650.

In my town the shops here take advantage. When I was selling US silver coins online for 25x, a local pawn shop featured on a TV show was paying 6x ! YES.....SIX times FACE !! Sorry, but Rick doesn't get my trade. LOL

Today, online seems the fairest market. IMHO

 

For silver, I usually sell to individuals I meet face-to-face locally, and I find them with craigslist ads I post. Can usually find a hoarder who will pay a nice little bit over spot, cash in hand.

 

coin store by my house buys eagles for spot, they always have......in my opinion it is better to sell to someone for spot face to face as opposed to taking a chance by selling to someone you don't know online and then getting burned....good luck

 

You can sell Eagles via ebay and get spot + $3-5, but you can also get burned with ebay's policies that favor buyers (and scammers).

 

I sell at my auction house. It's great when my Silver Rounds go for $50.
