I completely understand. I've kicked around the idea myself. I don't know the answer for sure, but would we be able to share more about ourselves and become more of a community on a personal level? We'd have more freedom in 'getting off topic' on threads. What do you think? I don't know what kind of personal information someone would want to divulge, but one may feel more comfortable asking and responding without feeling intimidated by all the seasoned members on the main CT. Any thoughts?
I think I'll wait to see how others respond and pose the same opinion to the respondents--group vs. all of CT forum. I'll post the response to the group.
Do you know about any of the 'private' groups? I wonder what they talk about . .
That is where my problem comes in. I cannot figure out just what I would want to do just for that group that would not be better done for all of CT
I is already!
I'm not sure how to get the lincoln group going. The groups have been off and on since I have been a member. I guess just keep trying to contact members to spur interest. Glad you got your answer from BadThad. But if Lincoln are going to be an area of interest for you, you might want to practice some light conservation on low valued coins so you have experience when you come across an older more valuable coin in the future that needs some tlc. Just a thought.
I sent a msg to BadThad and he said pitch them or keep them separated. The cents are from rolls so it's verdigris. I'm going to roll them and get more rolls from the bank to search. Thanks
Hi. Regarding the green on your cents. Yes it is very possible that this corrosion will spread to other cents if not isolated. You first need to determine if it is pvc damage or a corrosion called verdigris.
Pvc is caused by storage in plastic containers made with poly vinyl chloride, and can sometimes be removed with a quick dip in acetone. You can find threads on the exact procedure if you use the advanced search function. If it is verdigris(sp) there is a product created by a member on this forum named Badthad specifically designed to help remove and stop this corrosion process. (the same copper corrosion that turned the statue of liberty green.) Either way any coins that have corrosion should be kept separated from your other coins. Jay
Sorry you guessed wrong!
