Pictures are a bit bright, Looks like severe strike doubling which is quite different than a Doubled Die.

where can I get info on strike doubling? I have had some difficulty figuring out dd's vs. machine doubling, strike doubling....and so on. I will need to study more about the differences. Thanks for the info

That could also be a form of die wear that's all, it happens alot on these dates. It certainly isn't a doubled die

Thanks for putting the link to the thread I was speaking of. I think some more research is needed on this topic. A lot of questions seemed to surface.

I have had the same problem with doubled die and machine doubling. The best and easiest explanation to me was on this thread. Scroll down to wear BHP3RD is and you will se me tell him it was a great explanation. He then explains machine doubling. Really helped me.

Even if it is machine doubled, lots of collectors collect these and it can be worth a couple bucks. I have a few strong examples in MS-63+ red that I keep.

Old thread Quentyn.. over 6 years old.
Not a true DDO or DDR. MD or Die Deterioration.
And a Misaligned Strike on the Obverse. Minor error.

Last time the member you responded to was seen was November 2012.. These are old threads.

And they are not Doubles Die varieties.. The were Die Deterioration Doubling.
    Worthless doubling.
