All the other blue holders that say Wells Fargo Nev Gold in the title have W########F in the cert number. I just thought it was odd the other one didn't. Maybe just whoever type up the label that day.
Here is an example I was going by.
All the green labels I could find also had the WF.
I didn't search the whole internet :D just about 10 examples.

I see it now...never noticed it before....it COULD be a certification code they used on that holder or for a set number of 1908 NM's....maybe they cycled through other letter combos, don't know.

That's something I would check to make sure it's legit and not counterfeit.

Might just be the way the holder is identified, would be curious if other
same date holders would be numbered
    the same ?

You would think the numbering sequence would be sequential.
Looks like In the early 1990s, nearly 10,000 high-quality 1908 No Motto Saint-Gaudens $20 gold pieces came onto the market and were called the Wells Fargo Hoard. They were untouched since 1917 and were originally designated as a World War I debt payment.
But the numbers are too wide spread.

19,900 actually...one of the largest and most famous hoard finds, certainly dealing with gold and/or the Saint series.

This thread has gotten a bit off track -- innocently :D -- and I don't want to hijack it.... so I'm going to update a Wells or Hoard or High Relief Thread to talk more about the pricing and serial numbers we discussed above:
