My apologies. I thought I was talking Supply and Demand economics, its benefits, and how it works without needing third party (i.e. government or other) manipulation. It runs fine by the parties that create Supply (those who choose to sell) and Demand (those who choose to buy). This is the basis to the pricing we see in our fine hobby and the backbone of the entire economy of our country. I will refrain going forward as I did not realize mentioning the government as a third party manipulator was too close to rule #8 or was it asking those who choose to purchase to not ask for third party manipulation and to just change their thinking that was the problem? Either way, did not mean to offend, and I will refrain going forward.

I don't think a discussion of economics and its related players is out of place on this thread. Wasn't it the (govern-)Mint that started messing with APMEX's "inflated" prices to begin with?

This is the first I've heard of this....did the US Mint recently do something with APMEX?

Search any 5 oz bullion discussion in January. APMEX was the first to offer 2010 5 oz to the public and the fiasco that ensued from the Mint's intervention is the premise to the (supposed to be) humorous Contests that will soon play out on the CT Contest boards. http://www.cointalk.com/t171249/

where's the fun in that? they want $$$ it's better to make $59.90 on someone then $10.98 for 2 -1 ounce coins...
I think it's about getting more profit per sale then more collectors in... mainly cause there's already a big demand and the mint only wants so much business...cause they are government too...make a profit but only at our discretion...

Definitely. Provident has better prices, better shipping charges and no ridiculous requirement to purchase both coins, whereas some of the others do. I like them a lot. Much better than APMEX.
