Witschonke&#039;s collection of Roman Republican coins -- f/k/a the RBW Collection -- I ordered a copy a couple of weeks ago of the 400+-page large-sized hardcover book published at the end of 2013, encompassing all the sales of the collection, and it arrived a few days ago. I&#039;m already enjoying it greatly. I also bought, and now have, Harold B. Mattingly&#039;s 2004 collection of articles on various subjects of numismatic interest including his studies of the Republican coinage. From what I understand, his writings serve as one of several functional updates to Crawford, based in large part on subsequent hoard evidence such as the Mesagne Hoard. It&#039;s not the sort of book I plan to read cover to cover all at once, but it&#039;s all quite fascinating.
