After a preliminary sorting of a few boxes of cents I have a gallon jar full of zinc memorials. I plan on sifting through them for varieties before rerolling them. So far heres the list I've come up with for what to keep an eye out for: DDOs 1984 1984-D 1995 1995-D 1997 DDRs 1982-D small date 1983 1994 AM varieties 1992 close AM 1992-D close AM 1998 wide AM 1999 wide AM 2000 wide AM RPMs 1987 D/D Do you have anything you think I should add to any of my sections? Should I add a missing designer initials section? Are there any varieties on my list that you think aren't worth looking for? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any advice.
This is just my personal opinion, but I would eliminate any Zincoln that didn't grade at least MS67, and I would make sure that all such coins were placed in "solitary confinement" to avoid any sort of cross-contamination. Chris
You can buy the varieties you mentioned fairly cheap. Unless you enjoy going through them, which will take lots of time, I'd roll them and sell them to the bank.
1. Yes I do enjoy going through them. Finding oddities and varieties myself gives me a thrill. 2.If you think these are "fairly cheap" I envy your financial situation: http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1...313.TR2.TRC1.X1992+close+am&sqp=1992+close+am http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1...2.m2428.l1313.TR0.TRC0.X1983+ddr&sqp=1983+ddr http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?isRefine=true&_pgn=1&_nkw=1984+DDO&_sacat=11633&cnm=Small+Cents++(20) http://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?isRefine=true&_pgn=1&_nkw=1994+ddr&_sacat=253&cnm=Coins:+US++(13) Personally, I would find it well worth my time to find any of these for face value.
Thank you I happened to find an 83 DDR when going through and rerolling some of the ones I had to put in a different jar cause this one is full. Thats what spurred me to widen my nets, so to speak.
One website that I have found an ENORMOUS help is the Lincoln Cent Resource website. They list practically everything you need to know from 2000 on back and if you can't find it there, then I would also advise you to open up the Wexler's DDO page. He has a TON of items on there to help you out! Lots of good stuff there. Happy hunting!
