Hello all. I am totally new to this forum. I have this coin that was given to me and I'm trying to find out what it is. I know that the figure is Zeus holding an eagle in one hand, a staff in the other. The word for Alexander on the right. I cannot find after looking at hundreds of old Greek coins an exact match. I don't know what the <| symbol or the M symbol mean. Can anyone offer any thoughts on this coin? Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

A probable modern fake of an Alexander the Great silver tetradrachm. The symbols are control marks, that would have somehow indicated when and where the coin was made. Although this knowledge has for the most part been lost, scholars have been able to reconstruct most of the series.
