Will someone please post a legitimate error or variety LOL! Ive seen days go by where its been bad but some of the threads lately have been insane. Seems like alot (not all) of these are coming straight from youtube flash in the pan "get rich quick" people. They arent even attempting to do any research at all before throwing their pocket change and lint at this site looking for opinions. Its even worse when they post horrible pictures or none at all and argue the experts as what it is. I'd be embarrassed if I posted "whats this" and an out of focus multicolored photo. I think to be in this hobby it takes some humility and effort on the part of the collector. Maybe thats just it....there is a rash of people who arent collectors but "gold miners" who have been "sold" the idea of getting rich from pocket change. I never used to understand the frustration I would pick up on from senior members here....Im starting to understand their short tempers as I read some of the trash posted. I wonder what the record is by one of the pros here as far as writing "PMD" in one day? All Im saying to newbies is this hobby is alot more fun when you take your time and learn a little before throwing any common coin in front of a camera. Read the stickies Take time to get decent photos (cropped and focused) Go to Variety Vista, Double Die or Coppercoins and read and learn at least a little. Finally and most important, be humble and thankful that someone is taking the time to give you advice and opinion!!! Dont give a member guff because he tells you the truth and you dont want to hear it!
Yes, I've noticed that. Like you say, the majority of the people you're referring to aren't collectors. Research? What research? We are their research!
Matrix - I think what we witness is a combination of a devolution in learning exacerbated by genuine enthusiasm (this is a general observation not directed at the OP). Unfortunately, our System of Learning has declined over the years (for a myriad of reasons) so folks are deficient in skills for critical thinking (not that this particular issue requires profound thought or breakthroughs). Genuine enthusiasm is a wonderful thing and should be encouraged. However, it cannot overcome a number of deficiencies.
These are COINS! Let me stare at each one momentarily to refill my "faith in humanity" tank...ahhhhhhhh....thats it!
