Ok, but USUALLY keyword USUALLY your world' rarest coin pick values over $500. Maybe not ALWAYS the case, but USUALLY does.

    Valuable = 1916D MS64 Mercury Dime
Rare = 1833 Half Cent MS65BN...Breen die state VII (heavy die clash)

Unfortunately, my favorite coins aren't easily accessible for pics.

Ohhhh sorry, I didn't read all the posts first. The two coins I posted aren't $500 (at least not according to me), but they're pretty darn close. :) They both have a low mintage which to me is considered as rare. ;) Or rare as hard to come by.

    Oh well!

Here is an example for you. This is a coin that was minted in the millions. It is an easy coin to find if you want a corroded and circulated example. They were minted with very poor quality control and terrible planchets and thus the majority were in bad shape when they came out. So, on top of that...many were destroyed because of the symbols they represent. As a result, pristine and lustrous examples such as this are very hard to come by. I challenge you to find another. This coin is not valuable...but is probably the rarest coin I own. I know you will probably turn your nose up at it because I paid a full $15 for it...but it is very rare.

Really now? Look dude, it is obvious that you didn't read my posts below. If you did, you wouldn't have made such a derisory statement.

I don't get my coins out of cheerio boxes, they have a much less mint than 200 (200 would actually be pretty high for what I collect), yet they don't exceed $500.

That's fine. This is a pedigree response. This is what I'd hopefully like other posts to model off of. To the point even though no pics.

    Thanks yak!

What? the "h word" as you call it?

Ya, I took it out because I felt it shouldn't be there. try not to school me on that though, your youtube videos do this, and much more.

Yeah I know, you can try to jeer or throw little mini-jabs at me but they just bounce right off so good luck.

Anyway, good submissions thus far. I really love the enthusiasm of a lot of you CT'ers.

I don't know what I may have said to upset anyone. I didn’t see any arguments going on when I started typing. Now this thread is arbitrary. I didn’t intend to jump in & seem to have jumped into an argument you guys were having. I have made a couple innocent posts & when I look at what is posted before & after my posts everyone is arguing. Please keep me out of this as I was just making a couple fun posts. Bye Bye for now.

Definitely a nice gold piece! I will sit this one out and watch as my coins aren't terribly expensive, but most are rare in their own right just not by everyone else's standards. :crying:

Thanks, my grandma gave it to me before she died. It means a lot to me. But, the German coin I posted is much more rare...but not nearly as expensive.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

BNB... I find your posts condescending, rude, obnoxious, and otherwise belligerent. Furthermore, when you post a thread you do not own it. You posted something on the internet, and furthermore on an internet discussion board. Once you hit enter, that post is open for discussion. You are not a moderator (thank goodness).

I for one couldn't care less about your criteria - the incredibly rare coins that people are posting here are far more interesting than some mythical fantasy pieces no one here ever has a prayer of owning. The pieces posted here are what people here have found interesting, have spent time and energy searching out, and have chosen to add to their collections. This to me is far more interesting than an 1849 Double Eagle (which although only 2 exist, only one is still known and it is essentially valueless since it has never been and will never be sold)

    THis one is my rarest.

    1982 Doubled Die Reverse
    Current know population is 2
Cost to me was 1 cent
Value? neither has been sold although i had an offer of $2000. It's the one coin in my collection that even the wealthiest collector doesn't have at least two of.

    I will answer your question:

My most rare coin is this St. Gaudens. Why? It's the only one in my collection worth $500 or more.

It's also the most precious..being gold
