Hey guys, how would you grade this nice Indian Head? I had a few ones in the hand now and I think that this one has still a good luster. It has more luster and less Details than the Denver mint type i posted a minuite ago. Unfortunately it is very hard to take photos of these coins :-( Greetings Alex
AU-58 with a shot at getting an MS-62. These coins are hard to find without a rub because the Indian’s cheekbone and top of the eagle’s wing are the highest points of the design. These are very scarce coins in strict Mint State.
Thanks a lot for your help! The mint luster is a good indicator for traces of harm. Unfortunately it very hard to show it. That is why I made a video. Does it affect your Opinion about the coin?
Easy AU-55, perhaps an AU-58 coin. Wear evident on cheekbone and top of eagle's wing keeping it within the upper circulated grade range.
AU-58 here. The luster paired with the general weak strikes of these means it may even grade a touch higher.
This bugs me. You guys feel free to un-bug me. But on the reverse, In God We Trust, is that just a ding or a scratch?
I took that as a serious bag mark. Another reason I'm at XF-45/AU-50. But the high areas show too much wear.
This is a coin which would be much easier to grade in hand, not by photo. That being said, I go with AU 58, but would not be surprised by a grade as high as 63.
I am in the 58 to 63 camp; the video looks like full or nearly full luster to me, but since I can't exclude a bit of rub I left HIgh AU in the range of possibilities.
This series has been one of my main focuses as of late. I agree w/ johnmilton and also feel it's a shoe-in for 58.
