1895 (G), 1896-O (G), 1894-O (AG/G), 1892-S (AG/G) barber dimes for $1.25 each-found in a dealers bulk bin in Albaquerque NM during the Spring of 2005. I guess you can call that cherrypicking-I just call it finding new dates to finish that set. Also during that trip-I find half of the dates for my Barber Quarter set for between $1.75 and $2.25 a piece. When I said I found half the dates, I passed up most of the common-high mintage coins for lower mintage-semi-key coins. The best being an 1897-S in G-4. I think I spent about $75 there on the quarters alone. I didn't even get to the Dimes or Halves (the halves were going for $4-6 each and dimes for $1.25 each). I also found an 1895-O Morgan Dollar in G-4+ for $30 in 2004 in New Orleans. That's it for now.
Here is one of my favorites. I got it in a dealers junk box for $2.50 and sold it for $43 on ebay. Charlie
My 1926S Buff.....paid about $110 for it as a PCI F15...sent it to NGC and it came back VF20 and its value would be around $400. I have some other good deals...but this is my pick! Speedy
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I'll add my two cents. Not an outstanding deal, but I did buy a set of Lincoln cents, 59-82 (all the 82 varieties) BU for a dollar at a dealer. Not amazing, but still a nice deal IMO. Thought I'd share. Phoenix
Most recent lucky finds: an 1895-O Dollar for $10 at a flea market, VG. Found an 1897-O dime for $2 at an antique mall, G condition.
