True dat. Pass that down through the generations. Maybe write up the story and have it with the set, along with pictures of those involved. Generations from now, that package will be quite a treasure.
I noticed something about this thread... almost all of them talk about the power of relationship with a father figure... an older man in the family. In a society where some people will soil their diapers if one uses the word "patriarch", it's good to see how the strength of our fathers bolsters society - though some campaign against that idea.
How right you are! I have enjoyed all the responses to this thread and noticed the same pattern starting with mine. Let's not forget Mom though! Although I cherish the two cent piece I have a gift from my mom hanging on the wall. THE PRESIDENTS which features the Lincoln, Jefferson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Washington and Roosevelt. A nice display of BU clads in a nice frame. Not overly valuable but it hangs on my wall. Think I was about 14 when she got me that. Fortunately mom is still with us and turning 75 in August. It took us five kids years to get her to stop shovelling snow. Now we're working on cutting the grass. Happy Mother's Day Mom!
This is an easy one for me. Its not a coin but a 1976 $2 bill my Grandfather gave to me when I was 10 years old. He had it in a gift enveloe and he wrote counterfiet not negotiable. In my opinion he was the greatest man to ever live. This is one I will keep and charish untill the day I die or I pass it down to one of my grandchildren.
