I am saving up to buy it. Might be 3 or 4 more years. It's a $50,000 dollar coin.

Bust 1/2 MS63 raw. It is currently owned by a great aunt of my wife. Her family can trace it back to a great, great, great something that has owned it forever.

Hard to pick just one, but my favorite coin (that I own) is probably this silver tetradrachm of the Parthian king Artabanos II (10-38 AD), struck at Seleucia-on-the-Tigris:

I'm sure I'll get some laughs but below is my absolute favorite coin in my collection. Many reasons. Certainly not due to its monetary value. (The scuff at 10 o clock is on the holder.) IMG_0050.JPG IMG_0051.JPG

$1838 $5 gold Half Eagle. Like the one I inherited from my G-Grandmother. Then my house was broken into. And it was stolen.

That. Sucks. I'd try offering a reward for info. Let the junkie's girlfriend turn him in.

My most favorite coin is probably a three way tie between these:

    1) Trajan Mars Denarius

    Trajan Mars.jpg

    2) Athens Athena/Owl Tetradrachm

    Attica Athena Owl Tet.jpg

    3) Julius Caesar Lifetime Denarius

Though if I could pick a whole subset of coins instead of a single individual coin, probably my collection of Constantine I and Sons from the London Mint would win the #1 spot.

My absolute favorite coin type is the US Morgan Dollar. Of the ones I own my favorite is my 1921D that is my pocket piece. I call it my favorite because it is the ONLY Morgan dollar I own that I can actually handle with no fear of diminishing it's value. I love the feel of a silver dollar in my hand:)
