1. Do you CAC? 2. Does CAC add value to a coin? 3. If it does.....What percentage of value increase? 4. Think CAC coins are eaiser to sell? 5. Does CAC add prestige to a coins? 1. No 2. None whatsoever - it adds an artificial and perceived value to the accuracy of the TPG's grading abilities only. 3. As much as the people can be suckered into paying for it. 4. I would think there are enough people thinking a double stamp of approval by two systems that started out only on the merit of calling themselves THE experts would have enough of a following that there will always be someone with money to pay for an extra security blanket. 5. No - its a money making scheme that when the original concept of slabbing started out, we old timers were laughing someone would be foolish enough to pay someone, proclaiming themselves to be THE experts, to grade their coins for them when all they had to do was read a little to be able to do the same and save the money. We also joked something to the effect of, "watch, some day some con artist will come up with the idea they can sucker more people out of their money by claiming to be 'more expert' than the self proclaimed experts, and people will pay these 'better experts' to grade the slabs." However, we were, in fact, being sarcastic b/c we knew no one would ever be stupid enough to fall for it. Nothing cruel meant -- this is factually what we joked about. However, I am hoping people will actually realize the coin is not being affected at all by the slab and sticker. Crack it out and see if people would give you the same price if you don't mention it was slabbed/stickered. Any additional greenbacks shelled out are only for the perceived value attached to the plastic/sticker a.k.a. the "testaments" to just how expert and just how "better expert" the people making the money from the business clam to be. ...and we continue to see many posts about these experts making horrible failures. The original schemers have an established market now being built up from from a lot of people who grew up during the years these systems were taking off. Now there are adults collecting who have not known the hobby without these TPGs, making it all the easier for such businesses to continue. Hence in the last year or so there was a company who was offering to verify the CAC sticker with their own sticker! Fortunately it failed...for now. Give it awhile. Remember we knew a scheme like the CAC would always be a fictional joke. Times change. A hobby is about fun. Despite the words above, I will not knock anyone who likes to collect slabs for aesthetics. They do look really nice in a collection. Its a hobby and fun is the name of the game. So go for it if you like this area of the hobby.
