I got 2 '67 halves from the store I work at. Somebody had paid with them.

The first silver I found was a 1964 washington quarter. I was giving a customer his change and as I took a quarter out of the register I noticed that it sounded different. I looked at the date and realized it was a silver. I put it back down and took a different quarter to give to the customer. As I handed him his change he jokingly said, "I would have taken the silver". After he left, I took the silver quarter out of the register and replaced it with I quarter I had in my pocket. Ever since almost giving way a silver like that, I always do a quick search through the roll at the beginning of the day when I go to the register.

i had been working at a bank for about a year. i really wasn't that big into collecting yet. i had a customer bring boxes of rolled coin. i checked them out before i handed them out. i was shocked to see a full box of BU late 50's early 60's dimes. so i decided to check the other stuff the gentleman had brought in. i found 18 rolls of BU 1961 quarters. you have to remember at this point silver was like $6-7/oz. so people weren't really hoarding it or even looking for it.
