Why don’t we post what each of us considers to be some of our best acquisitions of 2017?

    I’ll volunteer to go first.

Late in the year, I assembled a set of NGC slabbed war nickels: two MS67s, one MS67 with full steps and the rest MS66 with full steps. I’m looking for a suitable 1942 silver proof before playing the registry game.

    Here are two of them:

Early in the year came these: a first St. Gaudens and a 2006 Buffalo Gold proof:

    In 2017, came this beauty:

And $3 gold, which I suppose proves that if you wait, the right coin will come along at a good price:

Santadollar ;-) you’re very close with your guesses: one grade is correct, one misses only a + and one is too high. 2/3.

I caught the gold bug big time second half of the year. Here are a few of my favorites:

Always loved barber proofs. Will try and find a couple 10C and 50C buddies for this guy in 2018:

Developed a love for Peace Dollars picking up this luster bomb:

Had a fun active year, was just my second year collecting and feel like I learned a ton about a wide variety of coins (thanks in large part to this forum!) after not branching out past Morgans my first year. I learned I'm way more of a type collector than a set collector.
