Some of the others... Detached Manganese layer Partial plated 100% unplated Off center clad layer Copper Wash Struck on copper layer then detatched
I think i had that half and, that dime clad layer on my watch list on the bay for a while. Nice collection. 2 thumbs up!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure clad I did get to see these coins. It is always a refresher to see the real deal as opposed to the normal junk seen every day.
Nice coins guys! I do have a couple questions if you'all don't mind. 1. The JFK looks normal to me, what gives? I ask so that I can learn to spot one in the wild if ever I come across one. 2. How do I go about determining if I have a missing clad layer vs just one with environmental damage?(before sending it off for tpg grading)I assume weight would be one factor? Such as the coin above
Your buffalo nickel does not have a clad layer.. Nickels don't have clad layers. Yours is environmental damage. When a Clad coin is missing its clad layer you will see its copper core such as the many examples we have shown.. Usually just on one side. It could be any side. http://www.error-ref.com/missing-full-clad-before-strike/
Can we see the label.. I don't get how this is missing the clad layer Didn't Clad Halves start in 1971?
40% halfs have a 80% silver 20% copper clad layer over a 79% copper 21% silver core = 40% total. Tgats why we call them silver clad
It would be super cool to have the coins that those clad layers were bound to. Off center missing clad layer
I have often wondered that myself...will I ever find their true soul? Not likely, but cool if I could. Would buy it ASAP.
