I bought this today at my local coin shop, try and guess the grade and price I paid for it.

I love buying these slabbed in this grade range to flip. People always buy them from me as you seem to get good bang for your buck and its a coin you see raw more often than you do slabbed for the price point.

He has it as plain VF for $25. My first seated dime with nice details.

That looks much better than VF in terms of detail.

That's an XF45 all day long. But this dealer of yours thought it was VF30 and you nabbed it for $23. That is my guess, anyway.

I'm inclined to disagree, the obverse shows lots of wear. Had I only seen the reverse, I'd agree.

The jump from VF to EF on seated dimes is small. Sharp edges on the scroll and a bit of luster get you an EF. The dark spots make me think that the coin was much darker at one point and was worked on. VF just sounds right to me. I like the coin.
