VF-30 for 30 I love buying these slabbed in this grade range to flip. People always buy them from me as you seem to get good bang for your buck and its a coin you see raw more often than you do slabbed for the price point.
That's an XF45 all day long. But this dealer of yours thought it was VF30 and you nabbed it for $23. That is my guess, anyway.
The jump from VF to EF on seated dimes is small. Sharp edges on the scroll and a bit of luster get you an EF. The dark spots make me think that the coin was much darker at one point and was worked on. VF just sounds right to me. I like the coin.
