You think I'd be happy to get 25 nice coins in the mail.....

How is it whenever we get into a controversial subject half of the posters have never posted on the Ancients section before?

Good question Doug, I was wondering the same thing myself.

I guess that the 'New Posts' button displays items even if you have never posted in that area. Is it a problem?

These situations do happen from time to time. I wont comment on why the seller has not yet responded as I have no idea. I recently had one of these situations from CNG. It seems they had two coins that were switched in the flips. Correct lot number compared to the auction and description, but just the wrong coin. I advised them of it and ultimately I agreed to keep the wrong coin at its hammer price. It seems that the other person never responded back (not surprising since he got a much better coin out of the deal at a lower price). So...these situations can really depend on how the other person responds (the one who got your coins) if they respond at all. I am sure it will work out in the end.

Another thought. If the auction house finds it a hassle for whatever reason (maybe the buyer of the lot decides they dont really want them) you might suggest to them that you keep them and you can re-sell them to someone else. As a dealer i'd be interested. You can always PM me privately with the lot information.

Its because a lot of these people see it under new posts and don't really care what category its in. They also tend to quote the part they like or just determine how they feel by reading one or two sentences. And of course this is the internet while most people are hiding behind their monitor.

I think Doug has summed this up perfectly as usual. I'm not mad or impatient, simply surprised that no one has gotten back to me yet. This is not a mom and pop shop. The reason I haven't named them is because I have no doubt it's an honest mistake.

There's a thread going right now about buying coins for your mate.
I can only imagine my wife assessing the geopolitical climate in Europe before clicking the buy button on vcoins.

Why are there lines down the block at coin shops? Buying? Selling?

And thanks again to those seem to know exactly where I'm coming from. I'm not the best online communicator.

Interesting thought! I haven't checked the auction to see the actual amounts all these lots went for. I will tonight.

I don't mind others providing insights, but I do have a problem when assumptions are made without reading the entire thread. It's almost as if some posters just want to be argumentative. Just my opinion.

What would be a fair offer for a $1000 group at big auction prices? I'd guess $250. Buying above retail and selling anything is generally not a happy path.

Like what I mentioned yesterday. Some here seem to just want to go on the attack right from the get-go.

Ah...cat videos, the lowest common denominator of the internet.

I've only ever met one cat in my life so far that's liked me, and even then it was kinda-sorta.

Lowest common denominator? Cat videos are the Internet's raison d'être!

The best course of action is to wait until the auction house specifies how they want the coins returned, and also allow them to supply the packing material and arrange for pickup (at Nemo's location) of the coins once they are packed. It's presumptive and risky to take any other course of action with the coins.

Also, Nemo raises a good point about the possibility of damage to the coin he actually won, and I personally would withhold payment until I received the coin itself and could verify that it was still the same coin represented in the auction.

So accurate. A high percentage of the controversies seem to stem from comments made without the perspective of reading the whole thread or previous threads on the topic.

Brexit is one issue but the Germany vote is another. They have been hit really hard the past few weeks. On top of that a lot of Europeans are on vacation this time of year.
