    Very interesting:pompous: Many of the sources say he was a lush and Marcus Aurelius carried him. Though MA was a much smarter man than me and he was the one whom demanded LV be his co-emp.

    I just thoroughly enjoyed Beard talking about just how important ancient coins are to our understanding of modern as well as ancient art and am smitten!
    Think she'd fall for a young(ish) gigolo with a wife and three boys?
    To her point about how the Renaissance sculptors and painters accidently got the portraits wrong by misreading the coins, my latest addition to my coins of the first twelve was misidentified as Vespasian when this is actually Titus. Only Titus had this reverse... That is, only Venus has this reverse and only Titus with it on the back of his coins:
