You ever buy a coin and then forget about it?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

You can find these for $35-$50 without prooflike qualities, although I paid a bit more for it because of the semi-prooflike nature. This is well below the average value of coins I typically buy.

All I can say is you forget better stuff than I do!

I have rescued (refuse to say bought) a colorized, screen printed and probably cleaned 1921 Morgan - from the coin club auction in the middle of 2018. Paid $12 so that's less than melt. I had every intention of dropping it into a container of acetone to see if I could rescue it and how bad it looked....

Lost it and found it last week in a box of junk. Soaking now...

I would have never guessed that from all your posts! I just assumed you had thousands.

He’s got less than me anymore. I bet I have less than 100 now days. I never had a lot. This not counting my junk silver drawer which is where I toss all my low grade non presidential silver. That I scrap out

Wow! I see both of you guys post show-stoppers, I’m not sure why that equated to me thinking that, but I did! You know what they say about people who assume! Sorry.:(;)

Nothing as exciting as what others have posted here, but about 12 years ago bought a bunch of Japanese coins that I never got around to organizing into my collection, and forgot I had until just recently. Most were still in the holders the coin store had them in.

I mean, in theory, I knew where all my coins were, but forgot I had these in particular. Finally got around to sorting my "junk box" (box with random coins that seem worth saving but aren't anything special in particular) and then found all of these that I bought years ago.

Yeah. I had one come in the mail recently after many months of bouncing around. I have no memory of ordering it.

I also have many hundreds of ancient Chinese coins, so I sometimes discover coins I forgot I had or rediscover coins I thought I had lost.

Indeed it has. I've have found coins on my desk and have to sit and ponder about where they came from (and what was I thinking when I bought it).

I keep a written log of what I order from ebay and then when it arrives I get a quick photo of it and record it on an excel spreadsheet. Or I'll set it aside on my desk and think that I'll get to that right soon but not this moment. If I'm really ambitious that day (which happens less and less as I get older) I'll record and photograph it, and put it in an airtite or a 2x2 flip with the catalog number on it from the spreadsheet.

More and more I find coins with cryptic notes on them that make little or no sense to me now but must have when I wrote them....
