I just learned about yet another collecting category today, they are called bullion patches. These are patches that some of the threads used on the patch are (gold and/or silver) bullion. Specifically I learned about space mission bullion patches. The bullion thread is used on the mission patch design to liven it up. While I have no interest in collecting them, they do look kind of fun. Here's a link.
