I am Robertson of the Clan Robertson, so this is my clan badge: However, the whole clan badge and tartans thing didn't start until much later - maybe in the Victorian era in the 1800s (?) - three centuries after the coin discussed here was struck. As @TheRed mentioned in Post #7: The gold coins on my hat all went away in my "Great Purge of 2013", when I rolled everything I had into the present Eclectic Box collection. The hat itself, (empty of coins but still with the semiprecious gemstone beads), is still in a box in my closet. I've got a few love tokens and a medal or two to put back on it if the urge ever strikes me, but I don't want to sink a lot of money into it. Otherwise I'd take up the suggestion @HoledandCreative made earlier, to find a nice holed example of this Scottish type. I no longer collect "holey" coins for my hat and vest, and sold off 99% of that collection, but it was fun while it lasted, and was my "trademark" for a while (as you can see in the 2004 avatar that I still use nowadays).
