I got a couple: I think I could clean the mussel up a bit, but then it wouldn't look like the CNG picture. So I won't.
I snapped up an X6 "Commodus as Hercules" As, with Commodus wearing the lion skin. I strongly suspect this coin will be in my 2018 Top Ten, so you'll have to wait until December for a pic. Continued prayers and good vibes Steve's way.
Nice choices, @Pishpash! I was browsing the remainders earlier this week and think I'm going to pick up a few more very modest lots. ... Here's a picture of Steve towards the end of chemo. His PICC line has since been removed. How on earth can he look so devilish and chipper after going through all of that?! Must be made of strong stuff. Plus, he has an awesome wife and family, and all of his coin friends who have been supportive.
Hah, thanks for sharing that pic, @TIF. It's great to see that Steve's doing well. I haven't been able to get a decent shot of this recent arrival, but it seems fitting to post it now, so I'll just use CNG's images... ISLANDS off IBERIA, Ebusus AE Quarter Unit. 3.28g, 17mm. You guys (and gals) have acquired some very (I mean very) nice stuff from Steve's collection : congrats ! It's very nice to see Steve's smilling face. Yes, he definitely looks devilish and cancer should beware of him, he's gonna win the battle ! Q
I fully agree with Q - so nice to see steve smiling after what he is going through. I have my own control check-ups (for re-occurrence) in April. Holding my breath, and hoping for the best.
Well, the SteveX6 Collection hit me again! I always liked this Denarius because of the cool Boar DETAILS, and, yeah, it is from the Republic. This is the year after Sulla stepped down as Dictator (and the year he died.). My FIFTH capture from that Eclectic Assemblage: RR M Volteius Mf AR Denarius 78 BCE 18mm 3.96g Hd Hercules R lion skin headdress - Erymanthian boar Cr 385-2 ex SteveX6
I just got a couple more, including one that I underbid! Couldn't agree a price when first listed, but pleased to have picked up now. Still some great things left.
Great to see Steve looks good. I looked much worse after months of chemo with sunken eyes and pale skin. It took more than a year to feel right again. Chemo is a long trip through hell.
A happy update: After finishing all of the hideous chemo and XRT, Steve's tests showed good news: no active cancer. Phew!! He'll have to have regular testing, of course, but this was outstanding news
