Macrinus Capitolias, Decapolis - Very rare & rough I have to give a shout out to @GinoLR and the coin he posted, it may be a little rough but is certainly Rare. ( wanted 1 for a while now ) I will have to make do with its little Brother until one turns up again Macrinus, Tarsos
Call it eccentric, weird, funky, wretched or all of the above, this imitative owl is probably quite rare, as far as I know. Personally, I prefer to call it a funky owl, but not a funky chicken.....
This coin is a common general type, but not with the Chi-Rho on Crispus's shield. Issued in 322-23, this makes it one of the very earliest Christian symbols to appear on a coin, with special interest because the Chi-Rho is displayed on a shield, just as Eusebius recounts Constantine's soldiers having done before the crucial battle of the Milvian Bridge. Just a handful are known and I feel very fortunate to have one in any condition!
The BEATA series has so many interesting and very rare variations that I'd expect more to pop in here.
