I think it’s silly. So submission 1 you get a details with a big ole paragraph and submission 2 you get a straight grade, submission 3 is details with a paragraph about the color so you get a RB. Submission 4 the coin straight grades and now it’s RD…see where this is going?
My bucket list coins are details coins. It is how I justify owning them. I have a USA Bar Copper with a label stating "AU-Details, Tooled Reverse"..... Now when I think of a tooled coin, I think of a manipulated coin and that isn't the case at all. Somebody, somewhere used a pocketknife and scraped grime from between the bars. I did a thread about it while back.... But the point being, that label made that coin a pariah to most buyers but a bargain to me...... I think we have to consider what a TPG can put on a label that is useful information, but there are cases where I would like to see information that is more appropriate to the coin inside.
There are a substantial percentage that are 'enhanced' (doctored/added) chop marks. A lot. Many are TPG encapsulated. The authenticity is not a given, imo and in my experience. Then there are the pieces that circulated in Japan and or Korea and are improperly identified. If he deems to, mlov43 can chime in on the subject.
