    Hello everyone,

I finally decided to weigh my 1982 pennies and found two 1982 small dates that weigh 3.1 grams. These two pennies do not have mint marks, so I did some research on the internet and one article I read said Some 1982 cents were struck at Denver and these carry a D mint mark. The 1982 cents with no mint marks were struck at Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point. However, all coins struck at these three Mints did not carry a mint mark. Consequently, it is impossible to differentiate where 1982 cents with no mint marks originated from.
So not sure if this 1982 small date penny would be a Philadelphia mint. So need to know if this penny weighs 3.1 grams is it copper? Or is it zinc, the reason I ask is I also found large date 1982 D's that are 3.1 as well so I'm assuming that the 3.1 grams are copper right? Thank you.

I believe you answered your self in the last paragraph of your statement, and that is cents weighing 2.5 are Zinc.
