One Pound coins, pale gold color, quite thick, right? If circulated they are worth about $1.60 each (Face Value). The designs on the back are for the different parts of Great Britain, namely England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland. First phrase sounds like Welsh, so that is for Wales I would assume. IIRC the current head of Queen Elizabeth is from a bust done by a guy named Machin.
Can you post some pics of them? Perhaps eBay. Current exchange rate is under $1.50 now that I looked so they would be worth about $8.50-9.
