i have been looking for some coins on my want list, and found these three. the british west africa florin they are asking $150 for. the rhodesia 1/2 crown $120, and the italian eritrea 2 lire, $240. are these fair prices? im leary of buying the italian eritrea coin for that much since it isnt graded, and might not grade if i send it. am i correct in thinking that?
I have no idea as to price , but your Italian 2 lire looks like it should grade . But it's your call . Good luck either way .
According to the price guide of NGC world coins, the florin is worth 65 in MS60 and 115 in ms63, so yes $150 is too much. As far as the 1/2 cr, it has a wide range in price, $50 for XF40 and $175 for MS60, since your coin falls on the upper area of that swath, it sounds fair. Not sure on the Italy coin.
The problem is, those guides aren't that accurate. Try and find some auction prices if you can...that will give you a better idea of the market is actually doing right now. But, another problem is these coins can be a bit hard to price too since the demand is a bit lower.
