Worth asking about 1982 penny

    There's a mark between the r and t on liberty it doesn't show to well in picture but it definitely doesn't look like any of the other bumps on the coin..and on the date it looks like double die but it's hard to see because of the coating on the coin..could be nothing though I'm new to this so I figured I'd ask

    Welcome to Cointalk

    The area between the R and T probably has a minor Die Chip
    The date is just Die Deterioration Doubling
    Both very minor issues with no premium

    That cent looks like the copper plating was removed, or is that just the lighting?

    I would attribute it, at least from what I can see, not to a die chip but simple plating issues. A quick look at the coin would suggest this a likely cause.

    I forget 1982 was when they started the Copper plated Zinc Cent.

    It was somewhat of an afterthought for me as well... I wasn't quite sure what to make of it until I looked at the second photo.
