There are risk when you play with Lincolns at this level. It may be red today but turn RB down the road.
Sure, there are some collectors who prefer BN or RB. The coins sometimes have lovely looks and are far less expensive. Will RD copper become RB down the road? Maybe. But there are many thousands of small cents that have retained their red color for a century or more. Slabbed and stored sensibly there is no reason they won't stay red well beyond our lifetimes. It's not nice to make fun of educated people who use the correct pronunciation of words such as Por-sha!
Am I the only one who finds brown cents more attractive than red? To me, when the copper turn to brown, especially on uncirculated examples, it show the details better. The red seems to make everything, more so on Lincoln's hair, to blend in and doesnt really give you an idea of where one line ends and one begins. I will take a MS-65 BN over a MS-65 RD any day of the week.
My preference is RB. You get the contrast that helps show the devices, plus a bit of flash and color. Trouble is, it's hard to find anyone selling them after 1935 or so. This is MS65RB. I don't really need them to be this garish!!
I like the red browns too. I prefer lincolns dated 1909-1929. After that they started to get "mushy" looking. Aside from all the weak strikes in the 20s, there are some that look really good.
Thanks, that's what I said...and it's about time Porsche put out the link you so kindly provided. PS: I'm a 44 year member of PCA (look it up) and the first thing a new member learns is it is not "Porsh" as in the Janice Joplin song.
I'll admit it, I was waiting to see where it would sell for a flip. I had committed to getting it if it stayed under a grand.
I looked it up but there's no record of "Insider" being a member for 44 years. I joined 47 years ago but my membership lapsed as a young adult. Only current for 25 consecutive. Lance.
