lovely stuff, really like the secundo crown, the NZ crown and everything else everyone posted!, wowzah!
Since I was burned on that Cypriot coin (for which I did eventually get all my money back, thank goodness), I'm testing all my coins (weight, diameter, and ping test). This latest haul from a reputable seller all checks out! Interestingly, I did notice that the ping test was less decisive for the coins lower in silver content, but a very gentle strike full on the rim did the trick. The Cuauhtemoc 5 pesos is one of my favorites. Not rare or particularly valuable, but just a great looking crown. More impressive in hand than in photos.
It's quite flashy! And the image of Cuauhtemoc has a lot of interesting detail. I also really like the designs of the Moroccan coinage, although the 20 Franc I got is probably low AU and doesn't have much luster. In general, I find many of the Arabic and Ottoman coins very attractive because of their abstract designs and calligraphic writing. The early 20th/late 19th c. Ottoman 20 kurush pieces are on my "priority" list, as is the Yemen Arab Republic rial from 1387 (1968).
Newps! These are more half-crown size than crown-size, but they fit within my 10g minimum silver content rule. And they're just barely too big to fit in my half-dollar air-tites. :-/ Macau 1952 5 Patacas, $15.49 shipped Denmark 1923 2 kroner, Silver Wedding Anniversary, $16.92 shipped
1928 Wreath Crown. I see I have enough crown type coins to post one a day for several months, so I will endeavour to do that, and hopefully others will post theirs as well.
I was wondering if we were going to see any of the French Indo-China Piasters ! Page 5 before one showed up.
@coin_nut has persuaded me to contribute. Here is one I picked up a few weeks ago -Straits Settlements Dollar, 1908: ...and here is one I have had for a while, tucked away in my "tangents" section - Frankfurt Thaler 1860:
