Perhaps it&#039;s not surprising, as Crown Prince Rudolf died the year before in 1889, and Sisi withdrew from court and her family until her assassination in 1898. So this would have been the first year that FJI would have visited Hungary unaccompanied by the empress, despite her being known for her love of Hungary and its people.</p><p><br /></p><p>The medal features a bust of Franz Joseph on the obverse with Hungarian legends. The obverse translates as: &quot;Commemorating the Visit of Franz Joseph I. Emperor and Apostolic King&quot;, and the reverse as &quot;Debrecen September 12, 1890&quot;.</p><p><br /></p><p>The reverse also features the heraldry of the major city of Debrecen, which was in use in this form since 1693.</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]746879[/ATTACH][/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
