10 Krajczar 1870KB (Körmöcbánya) KM# 451 (1870-1889) 0.400 Silver 1.66g 18mm NGC MS65 This is one of the earlier coins of the Forint period (1867-1892) before Hungary adopted the gold standard. I had been looking for a nice example of one of these for a while. As these were workhorse coins, uncirculated examples are hard to come by, and MS65 is the highest grade reported. This coin is roughly the size of a dime. The obverse features the young bust of King Ferencz Jozsef I with his titles, and the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen is on the reverse. Interestingly, on earlier depictions of the crown in this period such as this one, the cross on the top of the crown slants the wrong direction. The legend on the reverse Valto Penz is short for Magyar Kiralyi Valto Penz or Royal Hungarian Monetary Authority.
