I live pretty much right on the border between the U.S. State of Arizona and the United States of Mexico (I live on the U.S. side), so I have always had an interest in Mexican coins, ever since my family used to vacation every year in Mexico, and I would always try to bring back some shiny pesos, back when we first started going to Mexico for vacation, they were still using the old peso system, not the Nuevo Peso which they started using in the early 1990s, so I loved the large coins with HUGE denominations like 1000 Pesos and such, even though the exchange rate was awful back then, to a kid, 1000 pesos sure seems like a lot of money! So I was collecting Mexican coins back before I was collecting U.S. coins.... or any coins for that matter.

--------------

These days I really like the fractional bullion coins of Mexico, like this 1996 1/4 oz Libertad (my most recent Mexican Bullion coin), with a mintage of only 50,000. I also like the earlier design, pre 1996 of the Libertad coins, I have an 1985 1 oz Libertad which I love. I like how my 1985 1 onza has 'INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD' as edge lettering 'Independence and Liberty' very cool.... the 1996 1/4oz has a reeded edge. They both have just beautiful designs, I think they are some of the best looking silver bullion coins on the market. I would love one of the sets that comes with the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10th oz and 1/20th oz silver coins.

-------------

The first 4 photos are of the 1996 1/4 onza, the last one is a shot showing some of the edge lettering on my 1985 un onza.

I am still working on getting pics of the Netherlands 1890 2 1/2 cents as well as all the other interesting world coins I bought a few days ago.[/QUOTE]
